Alan Wake 2 is full of monsters, crazy writers, lunchbox collectibles, and puzzles, including one requiring you to enter numbers in the proper order: the Rock Rock Tree combination puzzle. Here's how to solve it.
How to solve the Rock Rock Tree lock in Alan Wake 2
The locked cultist stash with the Rock Rock Tree puzzle can be found just below the Private Cabin at Streamside in Cauldron Lake. After saving at the cabin, exit to the right and head to the stream. There is a Taken there who you must defeat.
After, you are able to explore the area and find the equations listed below, though you must shine your flashlight on them to see the equations.
- 7-5=5
- Located to the left of the stream on a rock.
- 3+3=6
- Located to the right of the stream above the stash on the hill.
- 6+2=8
- Located to the right of the stream on a tree.

With the three numbers deciphered, go to the locked cultist stash between the tree and rock on the hill. The note gives the clue, "Rock Rock Tree Are You Bright Enough," and this is the answer to the lock. Input 568, and the lock will open.
Inside, you can find a first aid kit, hand flare, and propane tank. There is also a note stating, "Are you one of us? Or one of them?" questioning if you are a cultist.
