One of the best aspects of a second playthrough is New Game Plus, allowing players to start over with their previous experience. Let's find out if Alan Wake 2 has New Game Plus.

Is there New Game+ in Alan Wake 2?

While players will be able to start a New Game Plus in Alan Wake 2, they will not be able to do so at launch. Remedy Entertainment confirmed New Game+ would be added post-launch. No specific time was attached to the announcement, so you'll need to be patient if you want to play New Game Plus. However, Remedy Entertainment did reveal what players can expect in New Game+.

  • Retain all unlocked weapons and upgrades.
  • New Nightmare difficulty level.
  • New alternative narrative, including new Manuscript pages and new video content.

The new alternative narrative is what has my attention, especially considering how mind-blowing and bizarre the story can be if it's anything like the first Alan Wake or Control. It may take some time for players to complete Alan Wake 2, so it may be better New Game Plus is released later to give players a break between their playthroughs.

While waiting for New Game Plus in Alan Wake 2, ensure you get every collectible and read each piece of lore you can. The world of Alan Wake is my favorite part, so I doubt I'll dive into the new nightmare difficulty, but if it means experiencing the new narrative features, I'll power through.
