Half-Life: Alyx is coming out in late March and I'm sure a lot of people are wondering how long it is and how long it will take them to beat it! Well, we're going to take a look at some of the information that has been released currently that gives us a sense of just how much game time you will get out of this virtual reality game.
Half-Life: Alyx is likely going to be the make or break virtual reality technology going forward. This is as big of a release as you could imagine for the platform. Valve's Half-Life series is beloved by gamers young and old, so if this moves gaming forward like previous iterations of Half-Life, then it's going to be very interesting to see how virtual games shape up in the future! While this isn't exactly Half-Life 3, it is certainly going to make waves in the gaming world once it has been released.
How Long is Half-Life: Alyx
While no official information exists on the length of Half-Life: Alyx, we do have some information from someone who has played it! Geoff Keighley, Producer of The Game Awards, has gotten to play through it and they have shared that Half-Life: Alyx will take over 15 hours to complete!
I’ve played through HL: Alyx (it took me over 15 hours) and seen it in multiple stages of development. This is a full-blown Half-Life experience, with a rich, vibrant world, immersive combat, great storytelling, and innovative game design. pic.twitter.com/FLKtXusyQc

He had a lot of great things to say about it, so needless to say that we're very hyped to try it ourselves. While around 15 hours is an estimated length, do keep in mind that you would likely get more time out of it if you replayed levels or sought out every little piece of hidden lore or items. This amount of time will also largely be dependent on how familiar you are with the VR controls and VR in general! A lot of players will likely be playing this as their entry into the technology, so don't be surprised if it takes you at least a few hours to get accustomed to how to play it. You will also want to take breaks now and again if you are just starting out with virtual reality. It's very common to get motion sickness, so take a break before it gets too bad and go back to it again after you feel better!
If 15 hours or more is correct, that means that Half-Life: Alyx will be around the same length as Half-Life 2! That would be very impressive for a virtual reality game, and quite an achievement for Valve if they've pulled it off!
That's all we know for now on how long it will take to beat Half-Life: Alyx! If we get any official numbers from Valve or other sources, we will update the post with additional information!
