Four new roles have just been added to Among Us with its recent major update. These player roles add extra layers of gameplay to both crewmates and imposters in Among Us. Here's the full list of all new roles in Among Us.
- Scientist
- Engineer
- Guardian Angel
- Shapeshifter
Each of the roles listed above is split between both teams in the game, with crewmates gaining Scientist, Engineer, Guardian Angel, and Imposters getting Shapeshifter.
All four roles add unique abilities and gameplay elements, which give players new ways to play the game.
With the addition of the new roles, the game now has a total of seven roles, each with different gameplay elements. That said, here are all roles in Among Us explained below and what they do in the game.

| Scientist | The scientist is a brand new role crewmates in Among Us gain access to. The role allows players to check for the vitals of all players in the game. Using this role players will be able to know exactly when someone dies in the game. However, in order to keep using the ability, scientists will need to recharge a battery by completing tasks. |
| Engineer | Engineer is a brand new role that allows players who have it to use the vents, normally exclusive to Imposters only, thus giving crew members who have the role extra mobility. |
| Guardian Angel | Guardian Angel is a crewmate role player that will need to die first in order to use. Once players die, they can use the Guardian Angel role to shield and protect players from being killed by imposters. |
| Shapeshifter | The only new imposter role called Shapeshifter, allows players to shapeshift into other players who recently died, thus allowing for new ways to trick crewmates and to win the game as Imposters. |
| Imposter | An imposter is one of the three original roles in the game. Imposter's purpose is to kill all non-imposters without getting caught and ejected off the ship. |
| Crewmates | Crewmates is the basic role that most players get went they start the game. Their job is to complete tasks and not get killed by imposters. |
| Ghost | Ghost is the role dead players get and is more or less just a spectator role. |
