Where to get hardwood in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

To get hardwood in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you will first need an axe, which you can get from Tom nook after giving him two kinds of fish and bugs. After this, you can then use the axe to get wood from hitting trees with it; when you hit a tree, it can potentially drop up to three hardwood pieces per day.

With this in mind, if you didn't get the desired amount of hardwood the first time, just keep coming back and farming the drops from trees. You can also try your luck with Mystery Island Tours, which will allow you to get all kinds of crafting materials, including hardwood from trees.

If you want to try using Mystery Island Tours, you will need to visit Nook's shop in Resident Services and purchase one from him for 2k. Once you get your ticket, see Orville at the Dodo Airlines airport in your town and select the dialogue option "visit other places." Orville will then ask you if you want to visit a Mystery Island; select yes, and you will then go to the Mystery Island.

Once at the Mystery Island, you can then harvest trees for hardwood and various other resources. You can also find an NPC camping on the island; if you have one or more empty house plots, you will be able to invite them to your island if you talk to them.
