Remodeling the poor interior design choices that your Villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the Happy Home Paradise DLC is one of the most satisfying things you can do. Unfortunately, a bug that has appeared in the game has plagued Animal Crossing players.
The bug appears when remodeling your villager's interiors while your Airport gates are open. Unfortunately, this bug can cause game freezes, changes not being saved, and other errors. But to avoid this error, the solution is to simply close the airport while you're remodeling.
Nintendo acknowledged this error on their official Twitter account and posted the same solution.
Ultimately, the issue seems to be related to the complexities of multiplayer play when combined with remodeling. It’s a good rule of thumb not to remodel in general when the Airport is open, but this bug specifically happens when Villager’s homes are remodeled.
Additionally, this bug may not be around forever. Nintendo confirmed that it would be rolling out a patch later this month to fix this issue on Twitter. This means that paying attention to your multiplayer settings will only be something you have to do for a little longer. After that, you’ll likely be able to remodel your island to your heart's content.
