Backpack Battles is all about putting your stuff together in your bags to get the most benefit. To win all the rounds, you'll need the best possible items, good synergy, and the right character. Here are some of my favorite builds.
Best Backpack Battles builds
While there are a ton of different possible builds, there are a few that have stood out to me as the most synergistic, and the most fun. These builds are part putting together the items properly in the right spot, but depend a lot on luck with the RNG in the store.
3. The Double-Axe/Great Sword Berserker
The Berserker is a character that is only available in the full release of Backpack Battles and not the demo. The Berserker comes with extra stamina and a rage meter that explodes once during each round. In order to best utilize this power, you will want to collect big weapons that deal massive amounts of damage, a ton of armor, and upgrade everything into its strongest form. The double-axe is a new item, exclusive to the Berserker, and the Backpack Battle recipe requires two axes. You can also make another massive weapon that is just as powerful, called the Busted Blade, made by using the Forging Hammer on the Impractically Large Greatsword. Here are some items to look out for:
- The class item that works best for this is the anvil; you can surround it by items that you have forged or altered to make the diamond weapon better. You should lay it out so the anvil is facing the double axe with the diamond, and the anvil is surrounded on the rest of the sides with the gloves/boots/armor that have been hammered.
- I had two big weapons in this build, so I prioritized having starred yellow potions as often as possible.
- The dog collar adds spikes onto your melee hits, which is awesome for this build.
- Make sure to put the melee weapons in the Duffle Bag as often as possible to get them to trigger faster.
- Topaz gems put into weapon slots or even just in your bag are also super strong for this build.

2. The Poison Explosion Reaper
To get a little bit of poison on your enemies as the Reaper is pretty easy; her starting case adds poison to anything you put inside of it. But once you add a couple of Death Scythes and fill in between them with Strong Pestilence Flasks, you'll be getting somewhere around 80-100 poison counters on your opponent. I averaged about 83 for this build, and I was pretty starved for the yellow potions needed to make this work. The Death Scythes are no joke when it comes to eating up your stamina.
- Green gems on your Death Scythes are a great way to add even more poison counters to the opposition.
- Loads of armor, healing potions, and yellow gems kept in your bag are also great ways of getting over how much stamina this build uses.
- Having a holy potion is critical to keeping your opponent's debuffs off of you.
- I picked the Vampiress comb for this, but I think it would have been better with the voodoo doll.
1. Fire Pyre
The Fire Pyre is exactly what it sounds like. You can burn just about anything to the ground with this build; it's one of the strongest builds I have found in this game so far. Using the Sun Armor surrounded by flame and holy items and Friendly Fire as the class item, you will get a massive amount of Heat.
- The Chili Goobert, which is a Goobert and a chili pepper, is a necessity for this build.
- The Phoenix is a great choice as well to give you a chance to outlast your opponents.
- All the fire weapons are great for this, from the Molten Spear to the Lit Torch. Just make sure to put them up against the Sun Armor or Friendly Fire.
- Staff of Fire is one of the best weapons for this build, even if I never seem to get one.
- Make sure to balance your weaponry with yellow stamina potions.
