Baldur’s Gate 3 – Best feats for Fighters in BG3

The most versatile class in terms of builds.

Fighters in Baldur's Gate 3 are naturally good at just about everything you build for it. As such, the best feats to take for a Fighter typically depend on the type of Fighter you're trying to make. Most Fighters will focus on melee, as the class is built for that from the ground up, but here are the best feats for both melee and ranged Fighters in BG3,

Melee Fighter best feats in BG3

1. Alert

Alert allows you to evade the Surprised status and to take your turn earlier in the combo queue, which is important for making sure you always have a leg-up on your enemy. I highly recommend taking this feat early on, as it will make many encounters much easier.

2. Athlete

Any feat that increases your Strength ability score is worth taking inherently. However, Athlete also grants a huge bonus to your jumping distance, which is integral in Baldur's Gate 3 for both combat and exploration.

3. Durable

Melee Fighters are often the the midst of the brawl so it's more likely they'll be taking more hits. The Durable feat boosts your Consitution ability score, giving you a sizable increase to your total hit points. Additionally, you'll regain full health after a Short Rest. A good feat choice.

4. Great Weapon Master

If you're playing a Melee Fighter that hauls around a big two-handed weapon, then Great Weapon Master is the feat for you. It allows you to attack after critically striking or killing an enemy, and, if you're using a Heavy melee weapon, lets you deal an additional 10 damage on top of your standard damage roll. The catch? You get a -5 to Attack Rolls, but this can be toggled off for strategic play. This is a must-have for Heavy weapon Fighters.

5. Heavy Armour Master

Boosts your Strength ability score by one, and makes you tankier against non-magical attacks. A very solid choice for a feat to choose.

6. Savage Attacker

Lets you roll your damage dice twice and use the highest result. When paired with Great Weapon Master and using a Heavy weapon, this feat lets you make your high damage more consistent. Almost a must-have for Heavy weapon Fighters.

7. Tough

Boosts your max hitpoint pool by two points per level you are. A very solid choice no matter when you take it.

Ranged Fighter best feats in BG3

1. Athlete

For a Ranged Fighter, Athlete is a strong choice because you can boost your Dexterity ability score by one. The additional boost to your jump distance also greatly assists with both combat and exploration.

2. Mobile

For Ranged Fighters, you always want to stay out of melee range, so you don't need to build for durability. The Mobile feat boosts your Movement speed, allows you to move further distances and makes it so your Dash can ignore Difficult Terrain.

3. Savage Attacker

Savage Attack is a strong option for a feat no matter what type of Fighter you are as long as you're using weapon-based attacks. The ability to reroll your damage rolls and take the best of the two is very potent.

4. Sharpshooter

A must-have for any ranged weapon wielder, Sharpshooter removes the penalties associated with High Ground and allows you to sacrifice -5 Attack Rolls for a permanent 10 additional damage on top of your standard damage roll.
