Baldur’s Gate 3 – Best Feats for Halsin in BG3

Feats for Halsin!

Halsin is a Wood Elf that can be recruited as a companion in Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3. A powerful Circle of the Moon Druid, his abilities boost Wild Shape. Choosing feats for Halsin can be difficult, as there are not many feats that fully benefit Druids; I like to stick to the most beneficial feats overall for Halsin so he can be the best companion possible.

Halsin Best Feats in BG3

If you are building Halsin as a pure Druid, you will have access to a feat at Levels 4, 8, and 12. Since you will have up to three feats, there are a lot of options to mix and match. Here are some of the best feats you can take for Halsin in BG3.

FeatDescription
Ability Score ImprovementYou increase one Ability by 2, or two Abilities by 1, to a maximum of 20.
DurableYour Constitution increases by 1, to a maximum of 20.
You regain full hit points each time you take a Short Rest.
Mage SlayerWhen a creature casts a spell Within melee range of you, you have Advantage on any Saving Throw against it, and you can use a reaction to immediately make an attack against the caster.
Enemies you hit have Disadvantage on Concentration Saving Throws.
MobileYour movement speed increases, and difficult terrain doesn't slow you down when you Dash.
If you move after making a melee attack, you don't provoke Opportunity Attacks from your target.
ToughYour hit point maximum increases by 2 for every level you have gained.

Since Halsin's combat abilities mostly rely on Wild Shape, many feats do not benefit him as much as other characters and conversely, finding feats that also work when Wild Shape is a good idea. Note Circle of the Moon Druids can act as tanks since they have multiple health pools with the ability to Wild Shape.

The best feat to take for Halsin is an Ability Score Improvement. When recruited, his Wisdom is at 17, so improving it to 19 or improving it to 18 and increasing another stat such as Dexterity or Constitution is a strong option.

Another great feat for Halsin is Durable, which can help his Constitution (and full hit points healing every Short Rest is extremely useful for enduring multiple fights before a Long Rest). Tough is also another great feat for him, as it can make him an even better tank while out of Wild Shape.

Mage Slayer can be beneficial to Halsin because it still works while in Wild Shape, and can help deal with pesky spellcasters by letting him focus them early.

If you are making Halsin into a pure Circle of the Moon Druid, the feats you will want should also work while in Wild Shape; feats that improve weapon attack or armor are not as helpful to Halsin as they are to other characters. Ability Score Improvements are the safest choice for choosing feats, but the others are certainly helpful too.
