Battlebit Remastered is a massive FPS game that manages to create the experience of a true firefight for players, with its servers supporting as many as 254 players per session. This incredible achievement brought me a real sense of being in combat, but it also left me wondering if it is possible to bring the fight outside on a handheld console. The Steam Deck is a perfect platform for the job, but can you play Battlebit Remastered on it?
Is BattleBit Remastered available on Steam Deck?
Good news first: the short answer is yes, Battlebit Remastered is available and you can run it on Steam Deck. But the long answer is that, while you can technically run it on the console, the game is not Steam Deck verified. To be clear, the fact that a certain game is available on the Steam platform does not necessarily mean it's Steam Deck compatible. There are four game categories regarding how well a given title runs on the console and if it can even be initialized:
- Verified: The game has officially been tested by Valve and found to run well and without extra work on Steam Deck.
- Playable: The game will work but may need some additional steps to be taken by the player.
- Unsupported: It is completely impossible to run the game on the Steam Deck.
- Unknown: Not tested by Valve yet.

How to enable BattleBit Remastered to run on your Steam Deck?
To get Steam Deck to run BattleBit Remastered for the first time, you must perform the following steps:
- While in the Steam client, right-click on the game.
- Select Properties.
- Choose Compatibility.
- Make sure the Force to use option is selected.
Disabling screen shaking and motion blur is also a good idea to increase the game's performance and limit it to 60 frames per second. Since Steam Deck cannot deliver more than 60 due to its capped frame rate, it makes sense to save resources by checking this option. The game may seem not very resource-intensive due to its low-poly graphics, but it still requires some processing power because of the sheer number of players and action that may be happening on the screen.
