Yes. Battlefield 2042 supports crossplay, but it works a bit differently than in other games. There are essentially two groups of crossplay, and players in these groups can play with each other.
Crossplay Groups
First Group | Second Group |
PlayStation 5 | PlayStation 4 |
Xbox Series X | Xbox One X |
Xbox Series S | Xbox One S |
PC |
Players from the first group will only be able to play between certain platforms. The same goes for the second group. It means that players on PC will be able to play with friends on PS5, Xbox Series, or both. Players on the old generation of consoles will be able to play with each other, but not with the new generation of consoles and PC.
That division between generations is mostly caused by hardware limitations. On the new generation of consoles as well as PC, Battlefield 2042 will support games for up to 128 players. On PS4 and Xbox One X/S, the player count will be limited to 64.
