X Marks the Spot DMZ Mission Guide

In Call of Duty DMZ, there are a few tricky missions that require you to visit the Koschei Complex to extract certain items. X Marks the Spot is a similar type of faction mission for Phalanx where you need to extract the Koschei Complex map from the Alpha Cluster. To complete this mission, you need to know the exact location of the R4D Tracker, and the key code for the bunker inside Alpha Cluster. Here's how to complete X Marks the Spot in DMZ. 

How to complete X Marks The Spot mission in DMZ

X Marks the Spot is a Tier 2 story mission for Crown, and it has two different objectives you need to complete. To start this mission, you need to queue in on the Al Mazrah map, and then head for the Koschei Complex from one of the entrances. Below are all the objectives for X Marks the Spot mission in DMZ.

• Unlock the Keypad-Locked room in the Koschei Complex alpha cluster with an R4D detector
• Extract the Koschei Complex map

The first objective require players to visit the Koschei Complex, take the R4D Detector from the Chemical Plant, and then access the Alpha Cluster sector with the R4D Tracker.

The second part of the mission requires you to extract the Koschei Complex map, which is hidden inside the Keypad-Locked Room. You must use the R4D Tracker to figure out the keycode for the locked room to successfully obtain the Koschei Complex map. Before going inside the Koschei bunker, I recommend finding Jumper Cables and Car Batteries as you will need these two items to unlock the Alpha Cluster.

Where to find the R4D Tracker in DMZ

After spawning on the Koschei Complex map, head for the Chemical Plant. This is the area you need to visit to complete the Low Light Combat Training mission; you'll need night vision goggles to navigate through this spot. When inside the Chemical Plant, go to the two small offices located at the center of this sector. You will find the R4D Detector inside these offices; you need to stow this item in your backpack.

Next up, travel to the Alpha Cluster, the entrance for which is located on the eastern side of the Chemical Plant. Use the Jumper Cables and Car Batteries to kick-start the circuit system to unlock the Alpha Cluster bunker. Before unlocking this bunker, I'd recommend eliminating all enemy Operators, or assimilating with them to form a six-player squad. Once inside the Alpha Cluster, you will encounter several Tier 3 AI bots and will have to disable a couple of Sentry Guns. To destroy this killstreak easily, I would recommend running up to the Sentry Gun and using your melee attack from behind.

How to Open The Keypad-Locked Door in Alpha Cluster in DMZ

After reaching the central hall area in the Alpha Cluster, visit the second floor in the eastern section; this is where you'll come across the keypad locked door. Equip your R4D Tracker and aim it on top of the keypad. You will see a three-letter code written in an obscure language which corresponds with three numbers. The trick to opening this locked door lies in figuring out the code. I highly recommend writing down the sequence of the unknown alphabets, as you need to explore the Alpha Cluster to figure out the code. Check the image above to see the exact location of the keycode in-game.

Keep in mind the code changes in every match, so the keycode in your match will be completely different from mine. However, that's nothing to worry about as you can work out the code for yourself by examining the chalk boards around the Alpha Cluster. Each of the alphabets you see on top of the keycode panel will have a respective number. Your job is to figure out the correct sequence of the numbers that will unlock the room.

There are four to five chalk boards inside the Alpha Cluster, and you will find them on the walls. Use your R4D Detector to see the hidden equation on these walls. Search for the symbols and alphabets you saw on top of the keycode panel and note down the number associated with them. I've unlocked this room several times, and I can say from experience that figuring out a couple of digits will be enough to unlock the room. You might have trouble figuring out the third alphabet, so two numbers will be more than enough.

Once you have the corresponding numbers for two of the alphabets in the code, head to the keycode panel. Type in the code and try out every other number to figure out the third alphabet. Since there is no limit to how many codes you can enter, keep trying until it unlocks. Once you unlock the door, you'll find a few loot caches inside the room, along with rare items like the Diamond Electric Drill, Gold Bars, and the Koschei Complex Map.

How to Extract The Koschei Complex Map in X Marks The Spot in DMZ

The Koschei Complex Map can be found lying on the ground inside the keypad locked room; pick it up and stow it in your backpack. After this, all you need to do is extract from Koschei Complex. You can exfil directly from the Alpha Cluster by calling in an elevator. I would recommend placing C4s, Proximity Mines, and equipment near the stairs and main lobby to stop enemy operators from rushing your team. Safely exfil with the Koschei Complex Map to successfully complete the X Marks the Spot mission in DMZ.
