How to get the Komodo Scales in Chrono Cross

Leena demands Komodo Dragon Scales!

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition opens with an unsettling premonition—and suddenly you're in the peaceful seaside village of Arni. Serge's childhood friend, Leena, sends you to Lizard Rock to find three Komodo dragon scales for her necklace before you can meet her at Opassa Beach. Here's how to get them.

Where to find the Komodo Scales for Leena

Komodo Scales are collected from the Komodo dragon Pups at Lizard Rock, which is southwest of Arni Village on the world map. All you have to do is find three pups and touch them to start a battle, then defeat them for the Scales. However, the Pups bolt as soon they see you—and you must leave and reenter the area for them to appear again.

This one can be found in the very first area of Lizard Rock North. When you enter, it'll dash, but you need to move the purple rock to block the cave opening. Once it's blocked, approach the Komodo Pup again. It'll stupidly run into the cave trap for you to battle and collect its scale.

Now head south to the next area, and you'll see the Komodo dragon Pup walking in a semi-circle around a raised platform. Chase it away when you approach, and walk north onto a huge green stalk growing out of the water. You'll enter the previous area again but on a higher level, where you can loop back and walk south again into the area you just left.

You should now be on the ledge immediately above the Pup. Jump off the south tip of the ledge and right onto it with perfect timing—or you'll miss, and it'll run. You may need to attempt this multiple times.

From the area of the second Pup, go northwest into the next area. The third pup is simply walking around the pond here, so just chase it down, as it has nowhere to run. Once you touch and defeat it, their mother will appear in battle—much larger than her children. But this boss is very easy to take down, and you'll have all three Scales once you do.

Now you can head south on the world map to Opassa Beach, and meet Leena with the loot.
