How to play Lights Out DBD guide

Behavior has finally released Dead by Daylight's new game mode, the Lights Out Modifier. This is a time-limited mode that lasts from February 7 to February 14, 2024. If you're interested, then check out how to play Lights Out in DBD below.

To start the mode, instead of clicking on the Play button, you will click on the button below it. This will give you an option to choose between Survivor and Killer. Both modifiers will give you an extra percentage of Bloodpoints.

This mode also has a special Tome with challenges you need to complete to get the special time-limited Player Cards. You'll want to do that as soon as possible, or you will miss out on some cool badges and banners.

The Lights Out Modifier consists of a unique set of rules different from your standard trial. The most important fact is that the entire map will be shrouded in almost complete darkness. As someone who loved using the Moonlight offerings to adjust the brightness of maps, I am already enjoying playing this mode a lot.

Apart from how dark the maps are, this mode has additional rules:

  • There are no Perks, Items, Offerings, or Add-ons allowed.
  • Survivors will leave no Scratch Marks.
  • Killers will have no Terror Radius.
  • More Chests will spawn with better Items.
  • Maps in rotation are Mount Ormond Residents, Treatment Theatre, Family Residence, and The Shattered Square.

Whether you are playing Survivor or Killer, you will find this mode very challenging. Both types of players will have to depend a lot on their hearing to get around maps. All gens will start already progressed so that you can actually locate them easier.

Apart from hearing cues, Killers can still use bloodstains on the ground for tracking, while Survivors can still see the Red Stain of the Killer.

For Killers, my best tip would be to use Killers whose kit still lets you locate Survivors, like the Doctor. Those who use traps are also a great idea since Survivors have the tendency to run everywhere. I'm running head-first into the darkness; I don't care that I can't see.

As for Survivors, the only thing you can rely on to help you are Chests, so make sure you search them all. The Items you find will be more powerful so that you will get more usage out of them. Also, bring in some of the quieter Survivors if you can, as you want to remain hidden as long as possible and not attract the Killer with Bill's grunting.
