Chat filters are hit or miss with a lot of people. Some people want to get the full experience of what their society has to offer and see every disparaging word about them and their mothers. Other people (smartly) bypass all that nonsense and toxicity and enable chat filters to tune it out.
How to Turn On Chat Filters in Dead by Daylight
As of now, there is no chat filter implemented in the game. However, the developers have recently stated that they will be placing a chat filter into the game soon. In this circumstance, it depends on which of these people you are to determine whether or not this guide has good news or bad news.

If you want the chat filter to be on, it's good news! The Dead by Daylight developers said in a recent update about their revamp of the system:
In an effort to curb toxic interactions, Dead by Daylight will soon include a Chat Filter feature. It will filter out and blur racist, sexist, or overtly offensive comments that do not have a place within our game, or community.Â
Swear words are also going filtered, as they were commonly used by players spouting offense and toxicity.
