To get Resonant Alloy in Destiny 2, you must dismantle Legendary weapons. Upon dismantling a Legendary, you will receive a small number of Resonant Alloys.
That said, if you want to get a ton of Resonant Alloys, your best bet is to focus on gaining new Legendaries through farming. You can farm Legendaries by playing various activities such as Vanguard Playlists, Crucible, Gambit.

However, the best method is to focus on Quests, Dungeons, and Strikes. Completing Story missions and Nightfalls will also help get you new Legendaries you can dismantle. To recap, if you want Legendaries to dismantle, run and complete the following activities in Destiny 2:
- Vanguard Playlist
- Crucible
- Gambit
- Strikes
- Nightfall
- Story Missions
- Quests
- Public Events
If you want to increase your chances of Legendary Engrams dropping, you can play on Legendary Difficulty. Playing on Legendary Difficulty will increase certain rewards and drops for the price of increased Difficulty.
However, if you decide to play on Legendary Difficulty, we recommend doing so with friends as the mode can be quite challenging to new underpowered players. Playing with friends will also allow you to get through many game activities faster than playing alone.
