When does The Dawning Destiny 2 holiday event start?

'Tis the season. Guardians!

It's that time of year again, Guardians! Get ready for more holiday celebrations and festive cheer when Destiny 2's The Dawning seasonal event comes back for its annual occurrence. Like the Halloween event, this is a special time for the whole community to participate in the festivities and hopefully get some new holiday-themed loot along the way. The event will be free for all Destiny 2 players as well.

While Bungie has yet to confirm the start and end dates for this year's event, it would be pretty safe to say the event should start on Dec. 14 and end three weeks later on Jan. 4. Both of these dates coincide with Tuesday, meaning the event will start and end on a weekly reset. Similarly, these dates mimic the Halloween event that also lasted three weeks and ran from the second week of October to the first week of November.

Festive Activites

When the event goes live, players can expect the Tower to be transformed into a beautifully ornate space decorated with all manner of lights and colors. But more importantly, Eva Levante will be waiting to help you celebrate the season and get started on the grind. Just like the Halloween event, Eva will have all-new bounties, rewards, and extra holiday-specific items to collect. Complete bounties, take on new challenges, and expect to be greatly rewarded if you do enough.

Last year, the Dawning event had guardians collecting recipes and hunting down ingredients to make delicious treats for many of the characters in the game. This may return, but Bungie has not mentioned anything new concerning the event.

Show Your Holiday Spirit

As the event goes on, keep an eye on the Eververse Store, as Tess will most likely be selling all kinds of holiday-themed armor sets, weapon ornaments, sparrows, and other cosmetics throughout the event. Many of the items sold will probably be purchasable with either Bright Dust or Silver.

Also, remember that any piece of armor you collect in the event can be unlocked and turned into an ornament through the transmog system, allowing you to hold on to your favorite looks all year round.
