Development for Dragon Ball Legends began sometime before 2017 because, in February 2017, Bandai Namco Entertainment approached Google Cloud. As a result of this meeting, Dragon Ball Legends was the first mobile app game to use Google Cloud, making the game's Player versus Player battles seamless and easier to connect.
