Dragon's Dogma 2 Gear Enhancement tips and tricks

Dragon's Dogma 2 introduces the following weapon and equipment enhancement styles:

  • Vermund
  • Battahli
  • Elven
  • Dwarven
  • Wyrmfire

Each of these smithing styles can bring unique benefits to your gear. Knowing where to go for the right kind of upgrade can make a significant difference in your gameplay, and you should always take into consideration which Vocation you play when making a choice where to enhance your gear.

Vermund Enhancement

Found in most cities and villages, Vermund enhancements provide a balanced boost to strength and magick, slightly reducing the weight of gear. They're a solid choice for general upgrades, particularly for items that benefit from both physical and magical attributes. I always pick Vermund smithies when upgrading my Mystic Spearhand Vocation gear.

Battahli Enhancement

Specializing in strength, Battahli enhancements are ideal for beefing up your physical attack power. Head to Battahli outposts for this upgrade, but be prepared for a slight increase in your gear's weight. It should all come together if you have enough carrying capacity or are using a Fighter or a Warrior vocation.

Elven Enhancement

Elven enhancements, available exclusively in the Sacred Arbor, focus on boosting magick and reducing weight, making them perfect for mages and sorcerers. While it enhances magick significantly more than physical strength, it's the go-to choice for magick-focused gear.

Dwarven Enhancement

Dwarven enhancements are a bit trickier to access, requiring the completion of certain side quests. They offer a balanced boost like Vermund but with a significant increase in knockdown power for weapons or resistance for armor. Note that Dwarven enhancements also increase gear weight.

Wyrmfire Enhancement

Apart from these, there's Wyrmfire enhancement, a linear upgrade for fully enhanced equipment, offering a stat boost and halving the item's weight. It requires special materials from formidable monsters such as drakes, so be prepared for a challenge.

Which smithing style should you choose in Dragon's Dogma 2

While each smithing style offers distinct advantages in Dragon's Dogma 2, your choice should align with your gameplay strategy and character build. Whether you seek raw power, magical prowess, or a balance of both, these enhancement locations in Dragon's Dogma 2 provide the tools you need to tailor your equipment to your needs.

Remember, enhancing your gear is a journey, not just a destination. Explore the world and gather the necessary materials without selling them off like I did; use the Inn deposit instead so you don't run out of resources when you need them the most.
