Dredge Research Assistant Samples: Where to get Aurora Jellyfish, Glowing Octopus & Firefly Squid in Dredge

Hope you like jellyfish!

As you explore the open seas in Dredge, you'll come across Pursuits, AKA side quests, which can end with valuable rewards. The Research Assistant Pursuit is one of them, and it leads to something pretty amazing if you can catch the three required fish. Here's where to find the Aurora Jellyfish, Glowing Octopus, and Firefly Squid samples for the Research Assistant in Dredge.

You'll come across the Old Fortress as you explore the Stellar Basin. After docking there, you find a Research Assistant driven out of her Research Post by a giant sea monster, halting her oceanic studies. This is where you come in, as you're tasked with collecting three samples for her for the Research Assistant Pursuit: an Aurora Jellyfish, Glowing Octopus, and Firefly Squid.

To get an Aurora Jellyfish, you need to have the Trawl Net unlocked. This can be done by completing Research with Research Parts. Head to the Stellar Basin at night and equip your Trawl Net, then sail around near glowing jellyfish until you find one.

Be careful not to sail into the middle of the Stellar Basin, as the giant sea monster the Research Assistant mentioned dwells there and can quickly destroy your boat before you know what's hit you. Stick to the outside, and you'll be fine.

Similar to the Aurora Jellyfish, the Firefly Squid can only be caught in the Stellar Basin at night, though you use your Rod instead of Trawl Net. Cast your line at Disturbed Water bubbling spots, and you'll quickly pull up a Firefly Squid.

The Glowing Octopus can also be caught by Rod fishing in Disturbed Water bubbling spots in the Stellar Basin at night. Alternatively, if you leave a Crab Pot in the Stellar Basin for a day or two, one may end up inside. Either way works, though fishing is quicker.

With all three fish samples in hand, return to the Research Assistant at the Old Fortress and give them to her. She will then task you with grabbing some parts from the Research Post. Return to the sea and go southeast to find the abandoned post.

Click on the Laboratory here and then inspect the equipment on the table. Pick it up, then go back to the Research Assistant, who will give you the Sampling Device, which you can now use to go Abyssal fishing.
