In Dune: Spice Wars, players will start their journey on the desert lands of Arrakis, where Water is one of the most scarce resources. You will need to harvest more Water not only to capture neighboring Villages but also for sustaining the upkeep of allied forces. To farm Water, players will have to construct Windtraps at various Villages to increase Water production.
While players cannot trade Water with the other Factions in Dune: Spice Wars, you can trade it with Sietches. This will improve the Relation Level with Sietches in the Region leading to fewer attacks and more trading options. Players can essentially send an Emissary to forge an alliance after reaching 100 Relation Level with a Sietch. However, players will need to set up several Windtraps before they can start expanding their hold over Arrakis.
Where to set up Windtraps in Dune: Spice Wars?
The only way to farm on Arrakis is by setting up Windtraps. These buildings cost around +3 Solari and Plascrete for upkeep and need to be strategically constructed in areas with high Wind Strength. Click on any Village to check its Wind Strength in the bottom left-hand corner.
Windtraps capture humidity from the air and produce small amounts of clean water. While the strength of the wind can drain units of Supply, these areas are ideal for Water production. A Windtrap produces +3 Water for each level of wind in the specific Region. For instance, a Windtrap set up in a Village with +5 Wind Strength will produce around +15 Water from that Region.
Besides Windtraps, players can also set up Water Extractors in Special Regions. These buildings gather ice and filter it to produce large quantities of Water. Water Extractors have a +8 Solari and Plascrete upkeep and produce +50 Water.
How to avoid Water Deficit in Dune: Spice Wars?
In Dune: Spice Wars, Water Deficit on Arrakis will lead to political unrest in Villages under your control. This will start rebellions in the Villages, and the only way to stop it is by farming more Water. You can also deploy forces to defeat the rebels at various Villages, but keep in mind that armies require huge quantities of Water for upkeep.
The easiest method to avoid Water Deficit is by setting up ample Windtraps, ideally in Regions with high Wind Strength. This will ensure a constant supply of Water, allowing players to trade with Sietches and take control of Villages.
