Best Attack Conduits in Dungeons of Hinterberg

This section explains what each Attack Conduit does in Dungeons of Hinterberg, where to find them, and a short explanation of their ranking.

S-Tier Attack Conduits

These three Attack Conduits are the best of the best for raining down damage on a group of enemies. They're also handy for quickly damaging one stronger enemy or boss, like Windsbraut.

Butterfly Barrage

Location: In a hidden chest by the Lighthouse Reef dungeon in Brünnelsumpf.

Butterfly Barage is tied with Meteor Shower for my favorite Attack Conduit in Dungeons of Hinterberg. When activated, it releases a barrage of butterfly projectiles in an area determined by you. This area moves as you move, making it useful for taking on groups of mobile enemies or anyone running away from the fight. I particularly like using this one against Windsbraut because it can easily take out her second phase by itself. You only need to worry about dodging her attacks and keeping the attack centered on her.

Meteor Shower

Location: In a hidden chest in the Windmill in Hinterwald. It can also later be purchased from Hannah's shop.

The Meteor Shower conduit rains down meteors in a specified area of the combat zone, damaging all enemies who stand or walk through it. This is one of my personal favorites because you can summon the storm, then attack enemies in it with your sword to do extra damage and keep them in the area of effect. It is just as helpful for bosses and would be great paired with a conduit with a CC effect like Battlecry or Snowball.

Ravenous Hunger

Location: The chest next to the Minecart Workshop dungeon in Doberkogel.

When used, Ravenous Hunger immediately destroys all enemy shields and converts them into mana for your spells. Additionally, it consumes all enemy projectiles fired over the following 10 seconds and converts them into HP and MP. This is the perfect spell for dealing with shielded enemies since it saves your mana and immediately weakens them. Its projectile conversion also makes it a good defensive move, making it perfect to keep in your arsenal for group fights. However, I would not recommend it as strongly for boss fights.

A-Tier Attack Conduits

This Attack Conduit does not do damage, but you'll want it on your side to handle certain enemies and situations.

Battlecry

Location: Given to Luisa by Jae after upgrading your relationship to level 2.

Battlecry is the only Attack Conduit that does not do any damage. Instead, it stuns all enemies in the area, preventing them from moving. It provides you with the perfect opportunity to unleash a flurry of sword strikes or another Attack Conduit that may require a little more precision or more time to cast.

Tinker Toy

Location: Given to Luisa after reaching a level 1 friendship with Henning.

The Tinker Toy Attack Conduit is unique because it has the ability to attract enemy attention away for a short time. Players wind up a small mechanical toy and drop it into the combat area. It wanders aimlessly, exploding with AoE damage after a certain period of time or if it takes enough damage. It's very handy if you need a moment to take a breathe and drink some potions mid-combat; it's also a great way to round up enemies in a closer area to use a stronger AOE Attack Conduit, like Meteor Shower, or all of them at once.

B-Tier Attack Conduits

These conduits are good choices for any Slayer ready to amp up their combat skills.

Burrow

Location: In a chest in Tatzelwurm's Lair.

Burrow allows you to dig underground and move around freely, damaging the enemies above you with jagged rocks. This is very similar to the move used by the Tatzelwurm in Doberkogel. It's handy for escaping from a tough situation and dealing damage without fear of taking any.

Double Slash

Location: Available for purchase from Hannah's shop.

Double Slash causes you to slice your sword twice, sending the slashes flying in a line. They'll both do damage to all enemies they hit. This makes the move useful for hitting enemies in a row and dealing a bit of damage to a stronger enemy in front of you. However, since it's pretty unlikely that enemies will attack you in a straight line, I've placed this Attack Conduit in Tier B.

Snowball

Location: Given to Luisa after fully upgrading your friendship with Kai.

Snowball is the cutest of all Attack Conduits seeing as it summons a mystical cat! Snowball will wander aimlessly around the field, freezing enemies while doing what cats do best. The downside of the spell is that it can potentially do nothing at all if Snowball decides to sit and rest in an empty area on the battlefield. On the other hand, the freezing ability is pretty handy for isolating enemies to take out during a fight.

C-Tier Attack Conduits

These Attack Conduits are basic but good. They'll keep you surviving in the early stages of the game, but I recommend swapping them out for stronger ones as soon as you can.

Blade Tornado

Location: Given by Hannah during your first meeting.

Blade Tornado turns you into a spinning weapon of destruction, with your sword dealing damage to every enemy you collide with. You move very fast while using it so you'll want to control Luisa carefully to do the most damage to enemies around you. It's a useful skill to begin with, but is easily overpowered by the conduits you gather further into the game.

Destructive Leap

Location: Given by Hannah during your first meeting.

When activated, Destructive Leap makes you leap a short distance and slam your sword onto the ground. While testing this conduit out, I noticed that it could stun enemies and knock them over. However, these instances occurred so infrequently that a conduit like Battlecry would be a much better form of crowd control. Like Blade Tornado, it is helpful but underwhelming compared to other Attack Conduits.

Whirlwind

Location: Available for purchase from Hannah's store.

The Whirlwind Attack Conduit creates four swirling tornados that chase nearby enemies, similar to the magic used by one of the enemies in Dungeons of Hinterberg. It's a cool spell, but it's a bit slow and low-impact to rely on consistently. I pushed it up to C-Tier since it can hit several further apart enemies at once, which is helpful if you're surrounded on multiple sides.

D-Tier Attack Conduits

This Attack Conduit isn't bad, but it just doesn't stand a chance against the other available options.

Flame Breath

Location: On sale at Hannah's shop after your friendship with her has been fully upgraded.

Flame Breathe allows you to shoot a burst of flames from your mouth, lighting enemies on fire. This does damage as the flames hit them and a small amount of damage as they continue burning for a short amount of time afterward. While this is cool visually, I found that it does a dismissable amount of damage compared to the heavier hitters on our list. Additionally, I'm not a fan of Luisa's movement while using the ability and the fact that you cannot use your sword while Flame Breath is active.
