Is Evil West Open World?

Evil West is the new action/adventure game from Flying Wild Hog, and it takes place in the ever-popular weird western setting. Players can take on a variety of powerful monsters with their guns, fists, and unique technology. However, as this game finally hits shelves, some players need clarification on what kind of game to expect.

Evil West is a linear third-person action game. It is not an open-world experience. While players are encouraged to look around for secrets, you'll find that the critical path is solid and unchanging. Evil West is reminiscent of simple PlayStation 3-era linear games.

You'll find plenty of invisible walls scattered around the landscape of Evil West. Making progress is simple, just continually look for and follow the usual markers. Posts marked by glowing chains always indicate the correct way forward. Hanging bodies and other optional targets will often also allow you to progress.

Evil West is not an open world but a simple linear action game with a unique setting. Don't go in expecting to choose your own adventure, but do go in expecting to have fun along the way.
