Jump into the action with different Mission game modes in Exoprimal!

After picking from some of the best Exosuits and determining which one is the best fit for you, it's time to jump into the game. I love collaborating with other players in a class-based scenario, and Exoprimal allows you to do just that with 5v5 PVP and PVE matchmaking. However, within that Dino Survival Matchmaking, there are also several game mode types that are determined by your progress through the story. Take a look below for all the details on matchmaking and game modes you can expect to see as you play!

Can you play Singleplayer in Exoprimal?

Despite Exoprimal being heavily story-influenced with unique cutscenes and progression, no—the game does not have any single-player modes. Any time you play, you will be joining a matchmaking system that places you within a 5v5 lobby. You will progress through the story and levels at your own speed but will cooperate with others to complete missions.

Dino Survival is the main way to play in Exoprimal, which will matchmake you into a lobby with other players, allowing you to progress through the story and level up. However, each Dino Survival lobby you join will have various Missions game modes that will change depending on where you are in the story. You can also customize your Missions game modes that are selected for you by choosing between three different types: PVP, Random, or PVE. PVP means you will go up against other online players along with your team, PVE means you will only collaborate with other online players to take down AIs, and Random will choose any of those by chance.

All Exoprimal Game Modes List

There are various Missions game modes you will see each time you join a Dino Survival. The type of Mission you will play is determined mainly by where you are in the storyline. You can tell your progression by the cutscenes that will initiate after completing a mode. Take a look at the list of Missions below to be prepared for what you might face as you play:

Special Missions

These are rare missions in which you complete a task for Leviathan following the storyline. It could be anything from defending a certain point to defeating a specific dino.

Dinosaur Cull

Dinosaur Cull is all about facing off enemy dinosaurs of a specific type, such as T. Rex, Triceratops, etc.

Dino Pursuit

Dino Pursuit requires players to chase after a target dino. However, the target dino will continue to run away and move to different areas, meaning the players must try to catch up and stop them as quickly as possible as other dinos block their path.

VTOL Defense

This is an all-out defense Mission game mode where players must defend a grounded VTOL from waves of dinosaurs that swarm in.

Data Key Security

Date Key Security works very similarly to capture the flag modes. Each team must escort an asset called a Data Key to a target location and then defend it as it reaches its mark. Other teams may sabotage that process by taking down enemies or stealing the Data Key while defending their own Data Key in the process.

Omega Charge

In Omega Charge, players have to destroy target objects and clear a path by using a special Omega Hammer weapon. The weapon is charged by how many dinosaurs the team destroys, giving them more power accordingly.

Energy Taker

In this Mission, players battle to absorb energy found throughout the map. The goal is to obtain more energy than the other team. They can collect energy by claiming dropped energy or taking down other players to steal their energy.

Escort

Escort has players working as bodyguards, protecting NPC characters that are performing an investigation. They must protect the NPCs by defeating incoming enemies or dangers that threaten them.

Neo T. Rex

Neo T. Rex is the ultimate boss fight mode, where players must work together to take down a mutated T. Rex. There are limited Respawns available in this battle, meaning players must do their best to survive and take down the beast before that limit is reached.

Vortexer Sabotage

Vortexer Sabotage is a portal destruction-type mode that requires players to work together to close down spawn portals that continuously deploy dinosaurs. They must do their best to keep the enemies at bay, take down the vortex shields, and then shut them down so dinosaurs stop spawning.

Area Defense

Much like VTOL Defense, this mode is all about defending an objective. You must stay by the target device and protect it from incoming dinosaur hordes. Staying nearby will allow you to repair it as it takes damage, but if it is completely destroyed, you lose.

Uplink Control

Uplink Control works as zone capture mode, in which players battle over who can control all the zones at once. Standing in the Uplink zone will slowly capture it, but enemies and dinosaurs can come along and take it for themselves. Be the first team to capture all the uplinks to win.

Savage Gauntlet

Savage Gauntlet is the only mode that takes place outside of the Dino Survival matchmaking. This is an end-game situation where you join a 5v5 ultimate competitive round and fight for the fastest clear time around the globe. Since it is only available after completing the main storyline, you can expect it to also be more difficult than the other game modes.

These are all the Mission and game mode types you can choose from when playing Exoprimal. The 5v5 matchmaking process lets you team up with some powerful friends or even make some new ones as you progress through the story. What are your favorite modes to play?
