Despite not being inspired by folklore tales, Anglers are some of the only creatures that are considered Cryptids, unlike the popular Wendigo creatures or the Mothman. They also happen to be the creatures that scare me the most because they are so good at hiding in plain sight. If you're looking to track some down, we have all the locations they are known to spawn in and some info on potential drops for them as well. Keep reading for all the details!
Where to find Anglers in Fallout 76
Anglers are pretty large in size but still manage to be elusive creatures. They like to blend in with their surroundings, pretending to be nothing but small weeds or flowers sticking out from bodies of water with their glowing antennae. Because of this, they are bound to stick close to areas that have water and can be found all along the eastern side of the map. Take a look at the list of most common areas below and match them to the map shown above:
- Gnarled Shadows
- Braxson's Quality Medical Supplies
- Treehouse Village
- Pylon V-13
- North of Abbie's Bunker, near site Queen of the Hunt Site Alpha

What are Anglers for in Fallout 76?
As mentioned briefly above, the Anglers are counted as Cryptids despite not being based on folklore, which means they can be good for completing certain challenges and are much easier to find than some of the other Cryptids. However, just because they are easier to find doesn't make them that much easier to fight. These creatures are still extremely aggressive and can spit fiery attacks at you from afar or hit you with heavy blows up close. However, it's worth killing them if you happen to have a quest or challenge, or to get their potential loot drops. Here are all the Angler drops in Fallout 76:
- Angler Meat
- Raw Asbestos
- Excess Adhesive
- Glowing Meat
Whether you're looking to take down some Anglers for a challenge or just want to see what loot you can collect, these are just the best places to hunt them down. Always stay on your guard; these creatures are good at hiding underneath murky swamps and will strike when you least expect it!
