Which cloth is to your liking? – Final Fantasy 16 Cut from the Cloth side quest choices

Red velvet and that pretty boy smile...

Final Fantasy XVI offers plenty of exciting sidequests to keep the players entertained if they want to take a break from the main storyline missions. Cut from the Cloth side quest requires you to bring Hortense two bolts of linen from her supplier in Northreach. After solving the problem regarding her supplier's shipment, you get rewarded with some extra materials. Naturally, this had me wondering, do these choices matter? This guide will discuss which cloth you like and whether it matters!

Do Cut from the Cloth side quest linen choices matter?

After experimenting with the game, whichever fabric choice you make at the end of the FF16 Cut from the Cloth side quest does not have any impact later in the game. At the end of the side quest, Hortense will offer three different materials to Clive, asking him which one he prefers. She decides to send whichever linen you pick to Jill, having heard she's quite the seamstress. You will have the following three choices:

  • Black embroidered linen
  • White continental silk
  • Lush red velvet

However, an optional dialogue with Jill becomes available just before the final battle if you complete this side quest. If you find Jill on the balcony of your room in Hideaway, you can initiate a dialogue in which she will give you a handkerchief she made for you from the material you chose. Only the color of the cloth will vary depending on your choice, but the item has no use in-game. It only provides a nice romantic moment before you ride off into the sunset. No matter which choice you eventually make, you will be awarded the following items:

  • Ability Points ×500
  • Experience Points ×350
  • Gil ×800
  • Renown ×15
  • Steelsilk ×50
