Can you pet the dog in Final Fantasy 16?

But is he a good boy?

The Final Fantasy series gains a new entry in Final Fantasy XVI. Players will return to the more medieval setting of the series but with a brand new world, story, and characters. One of these included a dog that aids Clive, the protagonist. This has led fans to ask and hope that they will be able to pet the dog in Final Fantasy XVI.

Can you pet Torgal in Final Fantasy XVI?

The dog you see accompanying Clive is named Torgal, and players can pet Torgal and show their affection. Torgal is more wolf than dog, and Yoshida teased that Torgal may be a party member. We've used Torgal assist in combat, so we believe he will be a party member, just not controllable as Clive is.

We don't know for sure what petting Torgal does if anything, but it is darn cute, and we cannot wait to pet him. For now, it appears Clive can pet the dog, but whether other characters can is unknown. We'd be interested to see if Torgal reacts differently to who pets him, but we likely won't discover this until release.

With that fantastic truth out there, fans can rest easy knowing they can pet Torgal, the dog in Final Fantasy XVI. We doubt you'll be able to pet other party members as they are humanoid, but this means you can give all your attention to the dog.
