All Materia Locations in Final Fantasy VII Remake

Jewelry that's fashionable and functional.

Using Materia is a massive mechanic in Final Fantasy VII Remake, and a huge part of the lore in-game. It is the condensed form of Mako—a tangible, liquid form of the planet's Lifestream. The Lifestream is where the souls of the deceased converge and flow through the planet, similar to a form of afterlife. Because of this, Materia is said to hold the wisdom of every soul in the Lifestream.

Regardless of whether or not this is true, Materia can allow its users to display a wide array of otherworldly powers and abilities. Summoning cosmic creatures, casting magic, and increasing a character's battle capabilities are all possible through the use of Materia. The more Materia you collect, the stronger you'll be. To help you out with this undertaking, here are all Materia locations in Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Types of Materia

There are five types of Materia in FFVII Remake:

  • Red (top left): Summon Materia is used to call all-powerful, otherworldly beings like Ifrit and Shiva to aid your party during combat. This type of Materia can only be used in certain battles.
  • Purple (top right): Complete Materia can have a variety of effects, such as increasing a character's max Health Points or the amount of Gil looted from enemies.
  • Yellow (bottom left): Command Materia allows characters to use certain abilities when set. Abilities like Steal can take items from the enemy, while Enemy Skill allows characters to learn and perform the signature attacks of various enemies.
  • Blue (bottom middle): Support Materia aids the Materia it's linked to. Some examples are Magnify, which increases the range of spells, and Elemental, which adds the element of the linked Materia to equipment.
  • Green (bottom right): Magic Materia allows characters to cast a wide array of offensive and defensive spells. Spells like Poison can be used to steadily inflict damage over time, while Ice can be used to freeze enemies.
