Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker Paladin Rotation

A Divine rotation!

In Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, Paladin has one of the more complex rotations for tanks. This is because Paladin has both a magic phase of their damage and a physical phase. Balancing the two is the core of the Paladin gameplay.

Below we’ve detailed the current optimal Paladin opener and the standard Paladin rotation. For clarity, GCDs (Global cooldowns) are written in Bold, while weaved OGCDs (Off global cooldowns) are listed in Italics.

Endwalker Paladin Opener

This opener rushes Requiescat in order to get out the quick Confiteor combo with the new level 90 actions. Fight of Flight is popped pre-pull to maximize its uptime during your full Rotation. Because of its long duration and the fact you’ll only be dealing Physical Damage for three of your opening attacks, it’s timed to fall off right after the first proc of Goring Blade.

Pre-Pull

  • 20 Seconds - Fight or Flight
  • 3 Seconds - Sprint
  • 2 Seconds - Holy Spirit

Pull

Fast Blade > Circle of Scorn > Expiacion Riot Blade Requiescat Intervene Goring Blade > Intervene Holy Spirit Holy Spirit > Holy Spirit Holy Spirit > Confiteor > Blade of Faith > Blade of Truth > Blade of Valor > Fast Blade > Riot Blade > Circle of Scorn Expiacion Royal Authority > Atonement Atonement

Once you’re into the casting phase, you can weave in your defensive cooldowns as needed with the multiple Holy Spirit casts. Otherwise, hold them, and build your Oath Gauge, popping Shelltron when it hits 100, to prevent it being capped. Once you’ve completed your opener move onto your standard Rotation

Endwalker Paladin Rotation

With some of your OGCDs on Cooldown from your opener, there’s less capacity to weave during this combo. However, this lines up well with the overall Rotation, meaning you’ll be able to hit the same OGCDs at the same point in the combo time after time.

The Paladin rotation is as follows:

Fast Blade > Fight or Flight > Riot Blade > Intervene > Goring Blade > Fast Blade > Riot Blade > Royal Authority > Atonement Atonement > Circle of Scorn > Fast Blade > Expiacion Riot Blade > Requiescat Intervene Goring Blade > Holy Spirit Holy Spirit > Holy Spirit Holy Spirit > Confiteor > Blade of Faith > Blade of Truth > Blade of Valor > Fast Blade > Riot Blade > Circle of Scorn Expiacion Royal Authority > Atonement Atonement

The Rotation ends very similarly to the opener, meaning you’re ready to continue your Rotation as usual. Remember that when you’ve not got an offensive OGCD to weave, you’re more than likely going to have a defensive one to incorporate instead. Don’t worry about missing an offensive OGCD if you need to pop a defensive cooldown.

Overall, because of the way Paladin works, you can use this opener and Rotation as a framework for fights. But be prepared to adapt. You might find yourself in a minute-long part of the fight where you’re at range. Adjust your Rotation so that the magic/casting phase lines up with the boss. Learning fights and adapting your Rotation to them is the best way to improve your DPS as a tank.
