How to do a Perfect Trick in Chocobo GP

Radical stunt incoming.

Chocobo GP asks much of you on the cart-racing circuit, and you can count perfection on its list of winning conditions. Specifically, you will need to use perfect timing to execute Perfect Tricks—which, aside from adding sparkly poses to your jumps off ramps and ledges, will grant you an extra speed boost, similar to the speed boost for successful drifting.

As a base function, Perfect Tricks and their resulting speed boosts have no prerequisite requirements. All you need to do is perform the jump at the right time. Doing it successfully is easiest when you can work up your speed before approaching the jump, especially if you don't have the benefit of a speed boost on a ramp.

If you want the Perfect Trick, you need to jump not a millisecond too soon or too late off a ramp or ledge. Otherwise, you might only pull off a Great Trick rather than a Perfect Trick—or no Trick at all. The level of Trick you achieve will show at the top left of the screen.

The jump itself can be done by pushing the action button (R) on the standard control setting, Type 1. You can also press R for the jump if you're using Type 2, or you can press Y if you've selected Type 3 in the Control Settings from the Options menu.

Hello! I'm a freelance writer with a longtime interest in consoles and a developing passion for retro gaming. Pokémon, Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Mario—these are the games of my past, present, and future, and I'm happy to be able to say that with a fair amount of certainty. Otherwise, maybe you'll find me playing Stardew when I'm not writing my first novel or showering my dog with attention.
