How to Glamour in Final Fantasy XIV

Time to become a FFXIV Fashion Leader!

Glamour in Final Fantasy XIV is the primary way of customizing your character’s gear. Glamouring changes the appearance of your current armor set to a different one. This way, you can pick and choose your favourite pieces of gear to wear while not worrying about it being weaker.

To unlock Glamour, you’ll need to talk to the NPC Swyrgeim in Vesper Bay. She should have a blue exclamation mark above her head. The quest will be called If I had a Glamour, and to complete it and unlock Glamour, you’ll need to bring Swyrgeim some Blood Orange Juice. Luckily, the vendors nearby sell the required item. Once you’ve delivered the juice, Glamouring will be unlocked.

Once unlocked, there are two ways of Glamouring your gear. The first is to individually Glamour items. You’ll need Glamour Prisms to do this. Right click on a gear item you’re wearing, select Glamour from the menu, and in the menu, select the piece of gear you want your item to take on the appearance of.

You can only Glamour items of lower or equal level than the item you’re Glamouring, and they have to be equippable by your current class and gender. Glamouring this way consumes a single Glamour Prism per item.

The second is to create Glamour Plates. To create a Glamour Plate, you must store items in your Glamour Dresser. The Glamour Dresser can be found in any inn, at your Free Company’s squadron command, in personal housing (if you’ve built it), and several other locations. To place an item in the Glamour Dresser, you need to use a Glamour Prism.

Once in a Glamour Dresser, items can be used in Glamour Plates. These set outfits can be applied to your character in any major city and do not consume Glamour Prisms. This is because you already used a Glamour Prism to put the item into your Glamour Dresser. This is the most efficient way to Glamour.

To remove a Glamour, you’ll need a Glamour Dispeller. This is an item similar to a Glamour Prism, which removes Glamour. And with that, you now know everything you need to know about Glamour in Final Fantasy XIV!
