How to unlock the Protonaught Minion in Final Fantasy XIV

A diminutive death-machine

Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.1 added a half dozen new minions to the game. One of these was the Protonaught Minion, a diminutive version of the fearsome Dreadnaught mob, which haunts old Allagan ruins. Here’s how you unlock the Protonaught minion for yourself in Final Fantasy XIV.

You can purchase the Protonaught Minion with 1,000 Trophy Crystals. Trophy Crystals are a new PvP currency that’s unlocked by completing the various Series Malmstones milestones. To earn Series Malmstones milestones, you must complete PvP game modes. Several of these gift you with rewards of Trophy Crystals.

Once you have enough Trophy Crystals head to the Wolves’ Den Pier and head to the Crystal Quatermaster <Trophy Crystal Exchange> NPC. They’re located at X: 4.5, Y: 6.0. Talk to them as select Trophy Crystal Exchange (Other)

The Protonaught Minion will be available for 1,000 Trophy Crystals. Purchases, and activate it in your inventory. The Protonaught is just one of the dozens of new items unlocked by the new Trophy Crystal currency. Overall, you can get armor, weapons, emotes, and other gear, just from taking part in PvP. It’s a great incentive to take part in this unique part of the game!
