In Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.3, a Wind-up minion version of everyone favorite pink-haired Ascian, Hythlodaeus, was added to the game. Called Wind-up Philos, this minion isn’t explicitly called Hythlodaeus, but it's clear to everyone that it is. Here’s how to unlock the Wind-up Philos.
How to get the Wind-up Philos minion in FFXIV
The Wind-up Philos minion is a reward from The Shifting Gymnasion Agonon dungeon. The minion has a chance to appear in any of the treasure chests from that dungeon. For more details in unlocking and running The Shifting Gymnasion Agonon, check out our handy guide.
In addition, the Wind-up Philos is also tradeable and marketable. That means you might be able to spot one on the Market Board. However, due to the difficulty in obtaining the minion, it currently sells for several million gil. This price will fall over time, but it’s likely it will remain expensive for the foreseeable future.

What is the Wind-up Philos?
The Wind-up Philos is a representation of Hythlodaeus, who was a friend and companion of Emet-Selch. We first met Hythlodaeus in Shadowbringers, but his true, pink-haired form was only revealed in Endwalker. Philos means “friend” or “near and dear” in Ancient Greek, and was used as a term of endearment. So literally, a wind-up friend!
