Should I play the Endwalker MSQ with a single class?

Stick to one class or level all your alts at once?

One of the hugely appealing things about Final Fantasy XIV is how easy it is to switch between different classes. You can select your new class at the push of a button or by switching your weapon, provided you have it unlocked and leveled up appropriately. No switching to alts, all classes on a single character. With that said, is there any reason to play Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker’s Main Story Quest (MSQ) with a single class?

Ultimately, while it is possible to play Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker with multiple classes, it is best to focus on one, at least for the main story. This is because huge amounts of experience points are tied to the Main Story Quest. As a result, if you’re splitting them between multiple classes, you’ll likely find yourself under-leveled and attempting to grind classes up between missions.

Instead, it is best to complete the Main Story Quest with a single class and then level up your other jobs. This is because you receive bonus experience for classes that are lower than your highest-leveled job. This turbo-charges your experience, putting you on the fast track for leveling up alts.

What’s more, with one class already at 90, you’ll be able to use the fact you’ve unlocked all the current dungeons and trials to queue into daily roulettes with your alternate classes. This means you’ll benefit from other players completing the story as well.

Overall, nothing is stopping you from playing the MSQ with any or as many classes as you like—It’s just not the most efficient way to do things.
