The Omega Protocol Ultimate cleared for the first time in FFXIV

TOP has been defeated!

A group of raiders known as UNNAMED_ has cleared The Omega Protocol Ultimate, becoming the world’s first to clear Final Fantasy XIV’s most difficult raid. The team cleared the raid at approximately 11:00 am on Monday, January 31, almost a week after the release of the raid.

The Omega Protocol Ultimate, or TOP as it’s become known to players, TOP is the second Ultimate released in the Endwalker expansion, with the Dragonsong Reprise Ultimate, released in April 2022 being the previous one. Ultimate raids are the highest-difficulty raids in the game and ask players to perform perfect actions for close to 30 minutes straight.

UNNAMED_’s clear brings to an end a race that took close to a full week, making it one of the longest and most challenging fights in recent memory. However, some of that difficulty came from both bugs and limitations of FFXIV. For one, the buff-cap, something other fights had only theoretically pushed, was reached in this fight, affecting many attempted clears.

Similarly, some frustrating elements with the fight’s transitions meant that healers were routinely gaining aggro, sometimes undeservedly. FFXIV’s aggro mechanics have been repeatedly stripped away, with healers no longer ripping away aggro with healing that generates threat. Still, the bosses’ in TOP’s tendency to instantly auto-attack healers after the transition was causing frustration.

Still, UNNAMED_ survived all these perils and cleared the fight. Their roles and jobs are listed below:

  1. The only level 90 ultimate raid? What about DSR?

    1. My mistake, I for some reason thought DSR was level 80. Fixed! Ty for pointing it out
