What is FFXIV Heardle and how to play

If you’re a Final Fantasy XIV fan eagerly awaiting the next patch, you might need a little distraction to pass the time. And one way is with a cool little guessing game. Heardle is a music guessing game based on Wordle, and recently a Final Fantasy XIV fan released FFXIV Heardle based on the original.

The game is pretty simple. Each day you’ll hear part of a song from Final Fantasy XIV. Then you’ll have to guess the name of the song. If you can’t get it from the first 1.5 seconds of the song, then you’ll get another second and a half after each guess until you get it right. You have a maximum of six guesses, so nine seconds of the song in total.

FFXIV Heardle works best on mobile, as it’s a little janky on desktop. To play the game, head to https://ffxiv-heardle.glitch.me/. The game is currently on day two (at the time of writing) but works on your phone’s local timezone, so it will update at 00:01 each day. 

Because it’s a smaller project the site can sometimes be overloaded, so be patient if it’s not available when you try. Overall, FFXIV Heardle is a great test for Final Fantasy XIV super fans. If you don’t know the names of some of Final Fantasy XIV’s iconic music, then this is possibly the best way to learn as you attempt to put a name to a song you’ve heard hundreds of times fighting a boss.
