Long time Fire Emblem fans were definitely happy to see old lords in Fire Emblem Engage. There were still plenty of characters that fans were hoping to see, which never showed up in the game, though. No need to worry, though, since fan favorites will continuously be added to Fire Emblem Engage through DLC.

Waves 2, 3 and 4 announced for Fire Emblem Engage
Three new waves of DLC for Fire Emblem Engage were shown at Nintendo's first Direct of 2023. The contents of these waves are as follows:
Wave 2
- Hector: One of the three lords in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword. Lyn, another lord from the game, is already in Fire Emblem Engage. As opposed to swords, Hector prefers axes and is a bulkier unit than the average lord.
- Soren: The mage of the Greil Mercenaries, the name given to the group of heroes from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Soren looks like he will have a wide-reaching magic attack with his Emblem.
- Camilla: This is Corrin's sister from Fire Emblem Fates. Camilla is a Malig Knight, a unique class that uses Axes and Magic. She appears to use the Bolt Axe, a rare Axe that deals magical damage.
Wave 3
- Chrom and Robin: This pair rounds out the lords from Fire Emblem Awakening (With Lucina being the third). Chrom and Robin will unleash a joint attack with both magic and sword damage. This is likely a reference to the pair-up system, where players could pair Robin and Chrom to do a dual strike.
- Veronica: This character is actually from the mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes. She is the nemesis of Book 1 but later reappears in the story. It looks like her Emblem Ring will be able to call on more heroes from Fire Emblem past.
Wave 4
- This Wave will feature a new leg of the story of Fire Emblem Engage. Called "The Fell Xenologue" it appears that another world is in trouble, and residents of that world ask Alear for help. The new content will also open up new areas in the map of Elyos.
