How to play in the Fortnite Renegade Runner Cup

The Renegade Raider Cup takes place April 12, and the exact starting time for it will vary by region. Players can check the exact start time by going into Fortnite, heading over to the Compete tab, and looking at what the start is listed as.

This will be a tournament that combines all of the NA region into one central server, and gone are the NA West and NA East prizes from tournaments in the past. This cup doesn't require a certain Arena rank for players to hop in, so people of all skill levels are free to participate.

Fortnite Renegade Runner Cup format

An interesting change Epic made for this cup is the fact that it'll feature both a Zero Build and regular Battle Royale option. Both tournaments will be Duos. This means players can choose between competing in a builds or no builds cup. The tournaments run at the same time, so they will have to pick one over the other.

Like most tournaments of this nature, the majority of the points come from surviving, but there are still points to be earned by securing eliminations. Here's the full breakdown. This applies to both cups.

  • Victory Royale: 25 points
  • 2nd: 22 points
  • 3rd: 20 points
  • 4th: 18 points
  • 5th: 17 points
  • 6th: 16 points
  • 7th: 15 points
  • 8th: 14 points
  • 9th: 13 points
  • 10th: 12 points
  • 11th: 11 points
  • 12th: 10 points
  • 13th: Nine points
  • 14th: Eight points
  • 15th: Seven points
  • 16th: Six points
  • 17th: Five points
  • 18th to 19th: Four points
  • 20th to 21st: Three points
  • 22nd to 23rd: Two points
  • 24th to 25th: One point
  • Each Elimination: One point

Fortnite Renegade Runner Cup rewards

The skin will be unlocked automatically for top performers in each region, but that means only a select few will come away with it. Earning at least eight points earns players the Starry Raider Emoticon, and 16 points will get the Renegade Reunion Loading Screen. Here's where players have to finish to get the skin and Raider's Rucksack Back Bling on top of all that.

  • Europe: 1st to 1400th
  • NA: 1st to 100th
  • Brazil: 1st to 450th
  • Asia: 1st to 450th
  • Oceania: 1st to 225th
  • Middle East: 1st to 225th

Players who don't win the skin will be able to pick it up in the Item Shop beginning April 15. Winners of the cup will just earn themselves some extra bragging rights as they can equip the Renegade Runner as soon as Epic hands out the prize.

Fortnite Renegade Runner Cup tips

Some tips for players hopping into this tournaments for the first time would be to just take things slow. Everybody competing is doing so for the same reward, and there are even some benefits to starting a bit late. Teams can play in up to 10 games over the three hour span, and a late start could mean easier competition. Epic tends to match teams up against teams with a similar amount of points, so starting a half hour late or so could mean being matched up against lower performing duos.

A typical Fortnite tournament usually results in a frantic build battle at the end with a moving zone, so knowing when to fight is very important. Avoiding fights and looting up could be a much more viable strategy. This doesn't apply to Zero Builds, of course, but picking and choosing the right fight is still important. Finding an uncontested POI is also nice because it means free loot and a much lower chance of being eliminated at the start of a match.
