Animals have finally been added to Fortnite, and it's something we didn't even know we wanted needed. We can now enjoy the new map by cuddling with four different types of animals. But no. You're not here for that. You're here to hunt them down.
How to Hunt Wildlife in Fortnite
Since this is the first time we've seen wildlife in Fortnite, not a lot of people know what to do with them. Suddenly, one of the missions they've given us is to hunt them down. Whoa, whoa; slow down Epic. Hunting people is one thing, but hunting animals? You okay?
Turns out, this is an intentional mechanic, and a lot of us are frantically searching how to do this. We've never gone hunting before! What do we need? A duck call?
As it turns out: all you need is a weapon and a keen sense of hearing.
Wildlife in Fortnite is remarkably easy to kill as none of them have a lot of health. Once you've found one, simply pull out your weapon and let your primal instincts take over. You hunt it by shooting at it.

Still, here is the thing about wildlife in Fortnite: it's a bit random. There are no set spawn locations, so we can't tell you precisely where to go, only how to improve your chances of running into wildlife. Having said that, the tips below should help make this an easy task for you.
- Keep your ears tuned in. All the wildlife in Fortnite has its own sound. Chickens cluck, Wolves howl, Boars grunt, and Frogs ribbit. While walking across the map, if you pay attention, you'll certainly hear one of these sounds. Follow the direction you hear it!
- Look in the right areas. As we said, wildlife is a bit random and has no set spawn location. However, some of them do frequent specific areas. You will generally find wolves in forest areas, especially Weeping Woods. Chickens are frequently found roaming farm areas. Boars can be found on farms and plains. Lastly, frogs are generally hopping around near streams.
- If you can, wear a Hunter's Cloak. Generally, you have to hunt a few animals to get one of these, so this might seem redundant. However, in case you happened to pick one off an opponent, you can use it to mask your odor from wildlife, so they have no idea you're near them until you attack.
With this advice and information, you should be able to easily locate some animals and finish off this quest. Happy hunting!
Once you hunt for the resources, use them to craft a weapon. You can see how using this guide.
