In Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2, you'll come across several locked spaces and vaults, and to unlock them you'll need to find the vault key card. This item is not available from ground loot, and instead, you must defeat the Highcard boss NPC to obtain a vault key card. Here's how to unlock the vault at the Brutal Bastion POI using the vault key card in Fortnite.
How to get inside the vault at Brutal Bastion in Fortnite
Vaults are available in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2, and can be found at certain POIs. For instance, you'll find a vault at Mega City, Shattered Slabs, Brutal Bastion, and Loot Island. The Loot Island spawns through a rift later on in the match, and the vaults at the other three POIs can be accessed by defeating the Highcard NPC. After the first circle collapses, the Highcard boss rifts into the game, and you can defeat him to get the vault key card. Check the yellow circle on the image above to see where Highcard spawns at Brutal Bastion.
Keep in mind, Brutal Bastion is a popular landing spot, and you will have to fight opponents at this location. The best strategy to survive at this POI is to find weapons and shields first before engaging with opponents. Do not fight the Highcard NPC boss until you've eliminated the real players. Once the area is clear, you can start fighting the Highcard boss.
The Highcard boss carries the mythic variant of the Havoc Suppressed Assault Rifle, so it's best to fight this NPC from a distance. If you find a Heavy Sniper Rifle, use it from a distance to deal massive damage to Highcard. Once his health bar comes down, move in close range for the kill. Remember, this boss spawns with two Wildcard NPCs, and you'll need to defeat them as well. After defeating Highcard, the NPC drops the vault key card. Equip it in your inventory, and follow the direction it shows to find the vault.
You'll find an access point on the left-hand side of the vault. Equip the key card and use it at this access point to unlock the vault at Brutal Bastion.
Inside the vault, you'll find a few interesting items including high-tier loot, gold bars, and consumables. You'll find the mythic variant of the Havoc Pump Shotgun, and the Slurp Juice legendary consumable inside the vault. There are several Slurp Barrels that you can break with your harvesting tool to restore health and shields. Similarly, there are a couple of epic chests, and regular chests inside the vault at Brutal Bastion.
