To obtain Dormant Fungal Nucleuses, you'll need to find and destroy level 40+ Fungal Enemies. Fungal Enemies must be defeated in an Activated State by applying either the Pyro or Electro element to them in battle to drop Dormant Fungal Nucleuses.
The higher the level of the Fungal Enemies you destroy, the more items they will drop.
Fungal Enemies can be found all over Sumeru, primarily in the Apam Woods and Vanarana. You can refer to the maps below for locations:

There was once a protracted debate among Amurta researchers on whether the Fungi should be categorized as plants or animals. In the end, they reached an agreement and closed the case for good — the Fungi shall be its own category, neither plant nor animal.
