Best characters for Enduring Rock (Geo) Elemental Resonance in Genshin Impact

When it comes to creating shields in Genshin Impact, nobody does it better than Geo characters. Each one can create an elemental shield through the Crystallize Elemental Reaction, and some Geo characters can summon special shields with some fun and unique abilities. They’re even capable of becoming stronger in the presence of other Geo characters due to the effects of a neat buff—the Enduring Rock Elemental Resonance.

Geo pairs

The Enduring Rock buff is centered around increasing your character’s shield strength, making sure that you’ll be the last one standing on the battlefield. You’ll need to utilize the Elemental Resonance mechanic in order to take advantage of this buff, however, meaning that you’ll need to include at least two Geo characters on your team before benefiting from the following effects:

• Shield Strength increased by 15 percent
• When the active character is protected by a shield, Damage dealt increased by 15 percent
• When the active character is protected by a shield, dealing Damage to enemies will decrease their Geo Resistance by 20 percent

There are currently eight playable Geo characters in Genshin Impact 2.4, and each one is perfectly capable of protecting your team in their own way. While all of them are viable options for adding to your team, there are two pairs of characters that put the rest of these rocky defenders to shame.

Arataki Itto and Gorou

The first two Geo characters on this list are Itto and Gorou, who are a stellar duo if you’re in need of a new Main Damage-per-Second and Support combo. Itto fills the role of main damage dealer in this pair, swiftly crushing enemies beneath his mighty kanabo, with Gorou filling the role of supporting Itto’s interesting mechanics.

• Character info: Arataki Itto, Gorou

Itto’s Elemental Burst converts all of his Attack Damage into Geo Damage while it is active, Crystallizing and creating an elemental shard each time his kanabo comes into contact with another elemental type. Building up Superlative Strength stacks will allow him to continuously use Charged Attacks, smashing any obstacles in his path. His damage output scales with his defense, meaning that the sturdier you make him, the stronger he’ll be.

Similar to Enduring Rock, Gorou’s Elemental Skill and Burst will both provide buffs based on how many Geo characters are in your party. He’s able to increase your active character’s Defense, resistance to interruption, and provides a bonus to Geo Damage, making him the perfect support for Itto. The available effects from having multiple Geo characters in your party are as follows:

• One Geo character: Defense bonus
• Two Geo characters: Increased resistance to interruption
• Three Geo characters: Geo Damage bonus

Zhongli and Ningguang

Zhongli and Ningguang are up next, the extremely knowledgeable past and present overseers of Liyue, respectively. They’re capable of creating shields and constructs that will resonate, dealing Geo Damage to nearby enemies. These two Geo characters work best by filling the role of Support, helping your main damage dealing characters to survive on the battlefield for longer.

• Character info: Zhongli, Ningguang

Zhongli’s Elemental Burst calls down an enormous meteor from the heavens, obliterating enemies and petrifying any survivors. His Elemental Skill creates an impenetrable Jade Shield, along with summoning a Stone Stele that will resonate with nearby Geo Constructs. The resonation effect will deal Geo Damage to enemies within its radius, causing the Crystallize reaction and creating Elemental Shards.

Ningguang’s Elemental Skill creates a Jade Screen, blocking incoming projectile attacks and granting a Geo Damage bonus to your current active character. It also counts as a Geo Construct, meaning that it will resonate with Zhongli’s Stone Stele to deal some extra damage to surrounding enemies. If you pair these two characters together, you’ll be able to overwhelm opponents with the power of Geo, all while staying safe from harm.

Both of these pairs of Geo characters can benefit just about any team, so pick the ones that will work best for you and what you need.
