First look at The Chasm from the Genshin Impact Version 2.5 Livestream

It's finally coming!

The Chasm is a long-awaited area within Liyue, having been teased numerous times within the game's story. In the recent livestream for Version 2.5, Genshin Impact presented all Travelers a treat: the confirmation of the Chasm's release in Version 2.6, as well as a first look at what the region has to offer.

History of The Chasm

While its origins are largely unknown, legends say that once upon a time, a giant falling star fell upon Liyue, forming a meteorite. However, the unrest within the region caused the star to retreat to the sky, creating the area known as The Chasm today.

In a far-off but not-so-distant past, Azhdaha once lived within The Chasm. However, the area was optimal for mining, prompting humans to occupy its territory. With his peace disturbed, Azhdaha went on a rampage, prompting the legendary battle between him and Morax, along with some Adepti.

While it's filled with riches, The Chasm has always been a turbulent place. Today, Hilichurls occupy the vicinity outside of The Chasm, while Ruin Sentinel-like monsters have been reported to live within.

The Chasm's unique geological conditions allowed a unique palette to form within The Chasm. Unlike Liyue's orange-toned hues, the former is painted with warmer, redder tones, according to the image teased during the livestream. Precious materials called the Glazed Sand Crystal are abundant in the area—and these are important for creating Liyue's porcelain.

Underground Mines

A good chunk of The Chasm's expanse lives underground, with an abundance of complex mines that house rich minerals and fluorescent plants, likely similar to Inazuma's Fluorescent Fungus.

Another variation of the Ruin Sentinel family is coming. Within The Chasm, mysterious creatures called the Ruin Serpents began to appear, and they're hinted to be able to dig underground—so they could possibly be adept at hiding and jumping behind unsuspecting Travelers.

The Ruin Serpent's anatomy is quite complex, but its origins have yet to be revealed. But don't worry, as The Chasm and all of its mysteries are confirmed to unfold in Version 2.6—so stay excited!
