The Genshin Impact Secret Summer Paradise event runs from July 5, 2023, to August 16, 2023, bringing with it a limited-time area called the Veluriyam Mirage. During the event, you can participate in a plethora of Attractions, including the Dance of Flashing Thought—a combat game where you must meet certain conditions to unlock buffs. I'm a huge fan of combat Challenges, so this was great fun to test out different teams. Here's everything you need to know about it.
How to unlock the Dance of Flashing Thought mini-game in Genshin Impact
After unlocking the event, complete the first Summer Serendipity Chapter called Secret Summer Paradise: Part I - An Invitation From Afar! Doing so will unlock the Attractions section of the event menu, where you can participate in a plethora of mini-games within the Veluriyam Mirage. You'll also receive a separate Event Quest to initiate each mini-game.
Complete the Event Quest called Determined and Elegant Battle Dance? to unlock the Dance of Flashing Thought mini-game, which involves a combat Challenge in a dedicated venue.
How to play Dance of Flashing Thought in the Genshin Impact Secret Summer Paradise event
The Dance of Flashing Thought venue is located in the Pavilion of Hermits. You can directly teleport there via the hat icon in the World Map. Upon entering, you can pick among four stages that must be completed in order. You'll be provided with the enemy lineup to help you put together the perfect team. There's no difficulty selector so the enemy strength will be based on your World Level.

There are no trial characters in this Challenge. Reference the Stage Info on the right side of the screen to get an overview of the conditions you need to meet to obtain bonuses. For example, in the example above, all party members automatically get a damage increase for using Charged Attacks—so it's a good idea to use characters who use a lot of Charged Attacks. The Stage Info is different for every Challenge, so make sure to check before starting!
Upon starting the battle, you'll notice a gauge at the top of the screen. Every time you defeat an enemy, you'll obtain Honed Will, which will fill up the bar on top. Once it's full, you'll unlock the Honed Focus state, which will trigger the effect stated in the Stage Info of each battle.
Upon triggering the Honed Focus state, a spotlight will appear on your active character. The gauge at the top of the screen will slowly reduce—and once it's empty, the Honed Focus state will end. You can fill the bar again by defeating enemies. Keep in mind that each stage requires a certain number of enemies defeated while in Honed Focus (see left side of the screen for the exact number). Other than that, you also need to defeat a certain number of enemies within the time limit (also differs per stage).
To claim rewards, head to the event menu, select Attractions, and select Sojourns of the Barking Fox to claim rewards for your effort. You need to complete all Challenge objectives to get all the rewards, so good luck!
