Genshin Impact partners up with ski resort Val Thorens to bring mysterious events

Dragonspine could certainly take inspiration from the winter sports-filled Val Thorens.

In a surprise Tweet, Genshin Impact announced a partnership with Val Thorens, the world's highest ski resort located in the Tarentaise Valley of the French Alps. The collaboration was announced on the evening of Dec. 17, 2021—but the event began on Dec. 14, 2021.

Genshin Impact promises to host a series of mysterious events and roll out plenty of exciting content, but it's unclear whether these will be limited to visitors of Val Thorens, or if the collaboration will extend to Teyvat.

Genshin Impact developer miHoYo recently wrapped up HoYo FEST 2021, an offline cafe collaboration event that rolled out in various parts of the world—including Southeast Asia and New York City. With the game's ever-popular presence in the global market, it's no surprise that Genshin Impact scored yet another collaboration, this time up in the mountains of the French Alps.

The snow-white Val Thorens is reminiscent of Teyvat's very own Dragonspine, a place where the weather remains cold all year round. It was the focus of the game's recent event, Shadows Amidst Snowstorms, which featured the homunculus Albedo, as well as members of Monstadt's Knights of Favonius and Adventurer's Guild.
