If you are seriously trying to play META in Genshin Impact, then pulling characters is important. One of the most popular ways to attack the Spiral Abyss is by having a character who can deal good Swirld damage. Both Venti and Sucrose can accomplish this, and they both do it well.
The short answer is no.You don't need to pull for Venti to do good in the Spiral Abyss if you have Sucrose. Both Venti and Sucrose can drag in enemies, and their Bursts hold hordes in place while pulsating Swirl damage.
Venti is a five-star and an Archon, so he does do more damage than Sucrose in many ways, but it's not to the point that you should feel the need to throw your Primogems at his banner. This is especially true if you have a C6 Sucrose. She is dealing a massive amount of damage at this level and can easily help you 36 star the Spiral Abyss.
