Genshin Impact Wondrous Shadows Guide — Fleeting Colors in Flight Event

The Fleeting Colors in Flight is this year's Lantern Rite event, which runs from Jan. 25, 2022 to Feb. 12, 2022. Players Adventure Rank 28 and up who have completed the following are eligible to participate:

• Archon Quest Chapter I: Act III - A New Star Approaches
• Archon Quest Interlude Chapter: Act I - The Crane Returns on the Wind

Some of the many festivities players can participate in are the Wondrous Shadows, which involve solving riddles using lantern shadows.

There are nine riddles in total, three of which can be solved on the first day, while the rest will release over time. Make sure to check back as we update this guide with the rest of the lantern shapes!

How to Unlock

Players who have completed the prerequisites will automatically receive the Event Quest called The Bright-Windowed Lanterns Hide Their Shadows. This will prompt you to visit the lantern-maker Yuan Rong by the western wharf of Liyue Harbor. Speaking with her will initiate the Wondrous Shadows part of the event.

How to Play

Interact with the mechanism in front of the screen beside Yuan Rong to start solving shadow riddles. The mechanics are fairly simple: move the angle of the shadow until it forms an object.

1. You can choose to lock the shadow's vertical position and only rotate clockwise or counterclockwise by holding. Use the right mouse button on PC, X button on PlayStation, and click the hold button for mobile. Keep in mind that for PC, you must rotate only using the right mouse button if you intend to hold the shape.
2. The progress bar on the bottom left will tell you how close you are to solving the riddle. Your goal is to get the full gauge.
3. The shadow in the middle has to be adjusted until it forms an object.
4. If you fail to complete the challenge within the initial time limit, you'll receive a hint—the shadow form of the object-in-question.

Part 1 Riddle Solutions

First Riddle: Censer

• Pull the shadow downward until it forms an upside-down Censer.
• Hold the shadow in place and rotate until you form the upright Censer.

If the riddle doesn't solve, rotate it another 180 degrees, as the left and right sides are different, despite looking the same. Or adjust its vertical angle.

Second Riddle: Ship

• Pull the shadow downward until it forms an upside down ship.
• Hold the shadow in place and rotate it clockwise until it forms the shape of a ship.

Third Riddle: Kite

• Pull the shadow downward to form a bird-like kite.

Part 2 Riddle Solutions

Fourth Riddle: Mountain

• Pull the shadow upward until the Geo symbol comes into view.
• Switch to Segment 2 and pull the shadow inward.

Fifth Riddle: Scales

• Pull the shadow left until you see a shadow that resembles a T shape.
• Switch to Segment 2 and pull the shadow upward.

Sixth Riddle: Mora

• Pull the shadow to the left and slightly upward until you get the image of half a Mora.
• Switch to Segment 2 and pull the shadow downward, until you get the image of half of an upside-down Mora.
• Hold and rotate Segment 2 until it connects with the rest of the shadow.

Part 3 Riddle Solutions

Seventh Riddle: Deer

• Pull Segment 1 upward.
• Hold Segment 1 and tilt it slightly counterclockwise, until you've formed a part of a deer's left antler.
• Push Segment 1 to the left until it becomes the deer's right antler.
• Switch to Segment 2 and pull it downward until you form an upside-down antler.
• Hold Segment 2 and tilt it clockwise until it forms the deer's left antler.
• Switch to the Full Image and pull to the left to bring the antlers together and form a coherent deer image.

Blooming Flower

• Pull Segment 1 upward slightly until you form a butterfly-like, half-flower shape.
• Hold Segment 1 and tilt it clockwise until it becomes vertical.
• Switch to Segment 2 and pull it slightly upward, while also pulling it slightly to the right. This should form another butterfly-like shape.
• Hold Segment 2 and tilt it clockwise until it also becomes vertical.
• Switch to the Full Image and pull to the left to bring the two shapes together.

Crane

• Pull Segment 1 to the left and slightly downward until you form a crane's head.
• Switch to Segment 2 and pull it left until you form a wing-like image with a tail at the bottom.
• Hold and tilt Segment 2 clockwise until the tail is on the left.
• Pull Segment 2 downward until the tail is pointing upward.
• Switch to Segment 3 and pull to the right until you form thin crane legs.
• Hold Segment 3 and tilt it clockwise until it connects with the body.
• Switch to the Ful Image and pull to the right to form the crane.

Rewards

The first six lantern riddles will reward you with x30 Primogem, x200 Affluence Talisman, and x30,000 Mora. Meanwhile, the last three riddles will reward you with x3 Hero's Wit, x6 Mystic Enhancement Ore, and x30,000 Mora.
