Every time a new five-star character is released in the world of Genshin Impact, we players must decide if said character is worth the precious primogem admission price to obtain them. In this case, Dehya, the firey warrior mercenary present in much of the storyline surrounding Sumaru, has finally been offered up. Is she worth spending on? Should you take the plunge and roll for Dehya in Genshin Impact?
Is Dehya worth pulling in Genshin Impact?
The short answer is no. Dehya, despite being a fan-favorite since the moment of her introduction, is not worth spending your money or primogems on. This is truly a shame, because her art design, personality, and story-implied abilities are all so interesting. Yet, we cannot recommend pulling for her in good faith. From a gameplay standpoint, Dehya has a ridiculous amount of issues that cannot be ignored.
Why is Dehya bad in Genshin Impact?
For a five-star character, Dehya has incredibly low base stats that, unfortunately, affect the rest of her character in gameplay. This issue is made worse due to her also being a notorious dual-stat scaling character. She scales off both HP and ATK, making her builds rather limited due to having to focus on one stat for one type of gameplay and sacrifice for the other. This wound is made even more grievous in that her stat scaling, even if focusing on only one stat, still ends with her being underwhelming at both.
What's more, Dehya's kit is extremely lackluster. Her skill provides off-field pyro application, but it deals a pitful amount of damage and has terrible application frequency, effectively rendering it useless. Her Burst works similarly to that of Razor's, Cyno's, or Xiao's only without the actual viable damage attached to it. Using Dehya as even a sub-DPS is a solid DPS loss when there are other characters in Genshin that far exceed what she is capable of on all fronts.
The one place where Dehya has a niche is that she can soak damage for her team, and stagger that damage while off-field. However, with this is that she doesn't actually stave off enough damage for the staggering damage to matter, making this nearly worthless as well when you factor in existing shielders and healers.

Adding more fuel to the fire, what little power Dehya does actually have is locked behind her expensive constellations. Some of her constellations dramatically improve the effectiveness of her overall kit, but we absolutely cannot recommend rolling for any of them as they only make her mediocre from the pitiful state she is in at C0.
Our case for not rolling for Dehya is further backed by the fact that once her Limited Banner concludes, she will be placed on the Standard Banner. What this effectively means is that you will eventually get Dehya if you're rolling on future characters anyway. Unless you just like Dehya so much that you have to have her now, there is no real reason to waste your Primogems on her Limited Banner.
It is truly a shame that Hoyoverse has made such a beloved character so very weak. There is a small chance that she could be buffed in the future. The odds are incredibly low as such an occurrence is uncommon, but it can happen. We hope that it does because Dehya does not deserve such a sad showing after her incredible feats in Sumaru's storyline.
