Now that Genshin Impact's story is shifting to Sumeru, leaked information from the upcoming patches has been setting the stage for the Traveler's journey to the nation of wisdom. A leak of the Marvelous Merchandise event—expected to come in Version 2.7—reveals some dialogue from Liben, an unlucky merchant whose business ventures often fail.
The leak was posted in the WFP Discord group and was cross-posted in r/Genshin_Impact_Leaks. It reveals that the situation in Sumeru could possibly be shaky. Liben believes that there's an ominous air in the region and warns the Traveler not to venture into its territory. He claims that it's a dangerous place but specifically mentions that trouble only started occurring as of late.
It's not Liben's first time mentioning Sumeru, as he had spoken about it in previous Marvelous Merchandise events. At one point, he was planning on gathering materials to sell in the nation of wisdom. He revealed that its topography primarily consists of rainforests and deserts, so common goods are likely to sell well.

While there hasn't been much mention about what's going on in Sumeru, the Genshin Impact manga is highly indicative of the dangers that Liben warns of. The manga touched on Archon Residue Experiments conducted on humans, granting powers to Visionless individuals. The experiments were done under the supervision of Fatui Harbinger Il Dottore, as well as a scientist named Barnabas.
According to the story trailer, the Dendro Archon makes no move against the push for folly within the land of wisdom. While unconfirmed, this could mean that Lesser Lord Kusanali is aware of the Fatui's involvement but chooses not to do anything about it. For now, everything is purely speculative—players can learn more about Sumeru's story once Version 3.0 comes out in the summer.
