Granblue Fantasy Versus Tier List

Below we’ve created our Tier List of the best characters in Granblue Fantasy Versus. This is based on our own experience with all the characters, including the DLC ones. Like all fighting game tier lists, a great individual player can drag a character out of a low tier and into something viable. That said, here’s our list:

S Tier

  • Lancelot
  • Percival
  • Ferry
  • Belial

These characters are borderline broken. They have few weak matchups but can usually muscle through them. Percival simply out-ranges almost everyone. Lancelot's mobility is incredible, and he's very hard to lock down and damage. Ferry zones people out and has great chip damage and summons. Finally, Belial's range and unique defensive options make him just a nightmare to play against. Pick these characters first, ahead of all others!

A Tier

  • Katalina
  • Charlotta
  • Zeta
  • Djeeta
  • Vaseraga

These characters are great, but just not on that absolutely broken level of the S Tiers. Djeeta is incredibly potent and feels like she plays like a more active and powerful Gran. Katalina, on the other hand, has such great gap closing and defensive options she dodged falling down tiers when DLC characters were introduced, despite being an all-rounder and a beginner character.

B Tier

  • Lowain
  • Metera
  • Beelzebub
  • Narmaya
  • Zooey
  • Seox

B Tier characters have a lot of bad matchups against those in higher tiers but can win out due to good combos and supers. Lowain fits the bill here, with good juggling, some summons, and great supers. Also, like Lowain, many of these tiers have a gimmick that needs to be played around. If you figure out the gimmick, you can beat them.

C Tier

  • Gran
  • Ladiva
  • Avatar
  • Eustace
  • Viray
  • Yuel

In this tier, the characters have either fallen by the way-side due to DLC releases or were just never that good to begin with. Gran is really a beginner character, and while he's a good all-rounder, he has a lot of bad matchups. Yuel and Ladiva have similar issues. You can win with these characters, but you'll have innate difficulties with them as well.

D Tier

  • Cagliostro
  • Soriz
  • Anre

Characters in D Tier will struggle with many matchups and are simply not worth playing unless you really love the character. For instance, many of Soriz's moves, while paying homage to traditional fighting games, struggle against the over-the-top attacks of Granblue Fantasy Versus. He's outranged and has low damage compared to easier characters to learn and execute.
